Since its establishment in 2004, EGAC’s overarching mission has been to raise the quality and competitiveness of Egyptian products and services. This is achieved by ensuring the competence and integrity of conformity assessment bodies under its jurisdiction. EGAC is a signatory to several international mutual recognition agreements, thus granting global recognition to accredited bodies for their competence and expertise. The accreditation process used by the Egyptian General Authority for Accreditation strictly adheres to international standards and best practices, particularly those in line with ISO/IEC 17011 guidelines. Accreditation by the Egyptian General Authority for Accreditation demonstrates commitment to the highest standards of quality and competence, providing clients and stakeholders with reliable assurance of the capabilities of accredited bodies.
International Accreditation Forum (IAF)
International Accreditation Forum Profile The International Accreditation Forum, commonly known as the IAF, is a global alliance of accreditation bodies and related entities engaged in conformity assessment activities. Its primary objective is to promote international trade by promoting the development of a uniform conformity assessment system at the international level. This system aims to be globally recognized and trusted by regulatory authorities, industry professionals and other stakeholders.
The core of IAF’s activities is to develop and maintain a set of globally recognized standards for accreditation bodies and conformity assessment processes. These standards are embodied in the IAF Multilateral Recognition Agreement (IAF MLA). The primary objective of the IAF MLA is to ensure that conformity assessment activities are carried out uniformly and reliably across countries and regions. This uniformity enhances stakeholders’ confidence in the results of conformity assessments.
Furthermore, IAF serves as a central platform for its members to exchange ideas, best practices and engage in collaborative efforts to enhance the quality and efficiency of conformity assessment activities. IAF is recognized by many international bodies, including the World Trade Organization (WTO), as the pre-eminent authority in the field of accreditation.
